The Bella di Cerignola, also recognized as Oliva di Cerignola or Grosso di Spagna, is a distinguished Puglian cultivar celebrated for producing some of the largest table olives available. This moderate-vigor tree forms a dense, somewhat weeping canopy with medium, narrow elliptical leaves displaying rich dark green coloring. The asymmetrical, ellipsoidal fruits weigh an impressive 8-12 grams and are predominantly harvested green for table use, offering dense flesh that comprises approximately 75% of the fruit weight. The variety also yields respectable oil production at 16-19% by weight. Bella di Cerignola demonstrates moderate resistance to common olive diseases and thrives in fertile soil conditions. Compatible pollinators include Maurino, Coratina, Pendolino, Frantoio, Leccino, and Olivastra. This cultivar's combination of exceptional fruit size, reliable productivity, and versatile applications makes it a preferred choice for commercial and home growers worldwide.
